Arlington Heights Sciatica Relief: This will be a quick post. If you want to learn more about back pain go to my other post. Sciatica is a very misunderstood disorder. Sciatica is a condition involving pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or compression of the Sciatic nerve. The presenting symptoms are actually present in a very predictable pattern. You should be able to trace the pain with a finger down the buttock, back of the thigh, calf, and into the foot. Sometimes that pain pattern doesn’t go all the way down to the leg, however, if the Sciatic Nerve is being compressed it will have a similar pattern. I see patients all the time that think they have sciatica because they have pain in their hip, butt, or leg. Unless that pain can be traced with your finger and it runs along the back of the leg you most likely do not have Sciatica.

Arlington Heights Sciatica Relief: The good news is that according the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 80-90% Sciatica patients get better without surgery. You can get better with a dose of Chiropractic and Physical Therapy care. One without the other is just not right. Chiropractic realigns the spine and physical therapy strengthens the muscles and ligament. If you do one without the other than you are missing an important part of the cause of sciatica and it will come back. Home exercises like Mackenzies Exercise, Cat-Dog, Downward Dog, Wall Sits, and any exercise that focuses on the Transverse Abdominis muscle is very important. Drinking lots of water, eating an anti-inflammatory diet, and most importantly Chiropractic and Physical Therapy will help get you relief.

Arlington Heights Back Pain: Are you waking up with low back pain? Do you get back pain after or while you are working out? Does the pain just come and go? Even if you know exactly what caused the low back pain the pain is there because there is a problem. What a lot of people don’t realize is that low back pain is an alarm that there is something wrong with your back. Not only that, low back pain is the most common form of back pain due to the amount of stress that the low back has to handle. In America, there are over 12 million visits to the doctor each year just for back pain and 31 million people have back pain at any given moment. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 8 out of 10 people will experience back pain in their life.

The primary cause of this low back pain is a misalignment of the spine causing swelling and pressure on the nerves that exit the spine. Arlington Heights Back Pain is a link that will take to you to my website to learn more about the spine and a free newsletter on specific topics. Another cause of back pain is the bulging of a disc. A disc is the pad that sits between the bones of the spine so they do not rub each other. Discs can bulge or protrude onto nerves with direct nerve pressure causing pain. Pain anywhere in the body is caused by nerve endings that become excited or irritated.

Why are there so many Arlington Heights Back Pain residents? Well, there are 4 reasons why people develop back pain: Lack of exercise, Poor posture, Physical trauma, and Emotional stress. All of these are aggravated by being overweight. You may think that exercise will exhaust you, however, the opposite is true. The more you exercise the more energy you will find yourself having. Unfortunately, most Americans do not exercise and spend the majority of their day sitting. The result is 31 million Americans have low back pain at any given time. Each year, one half of all working Americans admit to varying degrees of back pain. One third of all Americans over age 18 had a back problem in the past five years, severe enough for them to seek professional help. The cost of this care is estimated to be a staggering $50 billion yearly. One in six adults suffers from chronic back pain. The North American Spine Society surveyed 1,014 adults with back pain about the condition of their backs within the past 30 days. 64% of women and 50% of men experienced back pain. Nearly 33% reported difficulty lying in bed, 22% said it was uncomfortable to drive, more than 25% of respondents said back pain made it too difficult to engage in vigorous physical exercise and 32% were unable to lift heavy objects.

Poor posture is another of the reasons for Arlington Heights Back Pain. The proper shape of the spine has 4 curves that act like a spring or a shock absorber as you walk. Normal curves are lost through lack of exercise, poor posture, and bad habits like sitting on a leg or laying awkwardly on a couch. Gravity, repetitive strains, and injuries begin to change these curves and the spine begins to degenerate. As this progresses there is more nerve pressure causing pain. Emotional stress also causes your body to go into a heightened state that will divert blood away from your digestive system and into your muscles. If stress lasts for a prolonged period that blood stays in the muscles and you can develop back pain.

Some basic exercises you can do to help your posture is cross-crawling, cat-camel exercise, and hip rolling from side to side. Also focusing on breathing exercises and getting moving whether it be a 20 or 30 minute brisk walk or you start a more intense exercise program. As with any program consult a physician to make sure you are healthy enough to exercise and to find out the cause of your back pain. Don’t forget to click Arlington Heights Back Pain to go to my website and learn more and to sign up for my free newsletter. Check back regularly.

It is amazing to me that end up in my office and are surprised by the fact that they are falling apart. When you don’t exercise, you do not eat right, you don’t take vitamins, you are not stretching or doing anything to take care of your spine then of course you are going to feel terrible and be unhealthy. Look at your parents or grandparents: Are they on more than 4 medications…guess what…You will be too if you do not change today. You have to be pro-active about your health if you plan on being healthy. More people spend their lives dieing and less time living. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THAT CHANGE!
