Arlington Heights Sciatica Relief: This will be a quick post. If you want to learn more about back pain go to my other post. Sciatica is a very misunderstood disorder. Sciatica is a condition involving pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or compression of the Sciatic nerve. The presenting symptoms are actually present in a very predictable pattern. You should be able to trace the pain with a finger down the buttock, back of the thigh, calf, and into the foot. Sometimes that pain pattern doesn’t go all the way down to the leg, however, if the Sciatic Nerve is being compressed it will have a similar pattern. I see patients all the time that think they have sciatica because they have pain in their hip, butt, or leg. Unless that pain can be traced with your finger and it runs along the back of the leg you most likely do not have Sciatica.
Arlington Heights Sciatica Relief: The good news is that according the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 80-90% Sciatica patients get better without surgery. You can get better with a dose of Chiropractic and Physical Therapy care. One without the other is just not right. Chiropractic realigns the spine and physical therapy strengthens the muscles and ligament. If you do one without the other than you are missing an important part of the cause of sciatica and it will come back. Home exercises like Mackenzies Exercise, Cat-Dog, Downward Dog, Wall Sits, and any exercise that focuses on the Transverse Abdominis muscle is very important. Drinking lots of water, eating an anti-inflammatory diet, and most importantly Chiropractic and Physical Therapy will help get you relief.
